Description |
Colourful signature quilt commemorating the 145th anniversary of the Mandaumin United Church and the new Millennium. The quilt features a diamond pattern consisting of thirty one square blocks framed by eight triangles and a tri-colour border. Each block includes a square with eight triangles which produces an eight pointed star, set against a white background and framed by four rectangular pieces of fabric, each adorned with a signature embroidered using navy blue thread. Around the center of the block, there are a series of small square pieces of fabric in shades of blue, purple and gold which create a geometric pattern. The triangles around the outer edge feature additional signatures. The top of the quilt reads "Mandaumin United Church. 145th Anniversary. June 2000", embroidered using blue thread. There is a narrow floral border followed by a wide maroon band adorned with a series of signatures on the right and left hand side embroidered using blue thread. The outer edge of the quilt includes a narrow blue border and navy blue binding. The back of the quilt is covered in a black and purple fabric adorned with glitter. |

This quilt was made to recognize the Mandaumin United Church's 145th Anniversary and the new 2000 Millennium. The quilt was started January 14 and with 375 1/4 church member volunteer hours; the quilt was finished on June 6th. Church members were charged .25 cents per name to have their name embroidered onto the quilt. The Mandaumin United Church closed on June 26th, 2016 after 161 years in service. |
