Description |
Five piece, silver-plated communion set. a) Tall, silver-plated pitcher with a hinged lid. The lid features a two tiered design that tapers towards a pointed triangular shaped knob on top. The pitcher includes a dramatic covered spout with an asymmetrical pattern around the edges. On the opposite side, there is a long and elaborate handle which includes a small knob at the top to support the lid. The base of the handle is adorned with a small heart shaped piece of metal. The middle of the pitcher is adorned with an illustration of a sheaf of wheat and a grape vine on either side. Below, there is a pattern consisting of two bands framing six circles with four leaf clovers inside. There is a pronounced band around the base of the pitcher followed by a subtle tiered effect around the rim. b - c) Silver plated goblet. The goblet has a pronounced rim and features an illustration depicting a grape vine on one side and a sheaf of wheat on the other side. The middle of the goblet includes two bands framing six circles with four leaf clovers inside. The base of the goblet is comprised of a short stem with a prominent band in the center along with a round base with a subtle tiered design. d - e) Pair of identical round silver-plated plates. The center of the plate is shallow and features an intricate engraving featuring two rings framing eight circles with a four leaf clover inside. Around the edge of the outer ring, there is an illustration depicting wheat and a grape vine. The outer edge of the plate includes a subtle tiered design along with a small hole. |

This communion set was used by the Mandaumin United Church The Mandaumin United Church was formerly Presbyterian, which was formed in 1859. A new church was built in 1905 and the United Church of Canada joined in 1925. It closed on June 26, 2016. |
