Description |
Wooden Celtic cross with a dark finish. The cross features three nodules on the end of each point along with a circle around the center. The cross is attached to a three tier rectangular base that features a small metal plate. The plate is engraved with an inscription that reads "In Loving Memory of Oliver Smith. 1945". |
Provenance |
This small wooden Celtic cross stood on the Communion Table and was rescued on the day of the fire. It was donated to the church in 1945 in memory of Oliver Smith who lived on the 8th Line, Moore Township (now Rokeby Line). It was manufactured by the Valley City Manufacturing Company of Dundas, Ontario which specialized in supplying wooden church and lodge finishing. |
