Provenance |
This quilt was made by Barbara (daughter) and Hazel (mother) Blewett between 1950 and 1980. During her school years at Thedford Public School, Barbara embroidered the bird designs on to white cotton squares. She entered these blocks in the Thedford and Bosanquet School and Fall Fair in the 1950's. The category for these prize worthy entries was 'Section 8 - Sewing - Embroidered Quilt Block'. Barbara's mother, Hazel assembled the quilt blocks together alternating with plain green blocks between the embroidered blocks. The quilt was quilted by the Grand Bend United Church ladies here at the Lambton Heritage Museum during the 1980s. |
