Provenance |
These bottles advertise the Sharpe & Kirkpatrick Soda Water company which was a prominent Sarnia business that spanned approximately a hundred years. Irish-Canadian, William J. Sharpe was involved in the soda water business from the early 1880s working his way up from employee to owner. After a succession of partners, Sharpe entered into a business agreement with Thomas J. Kirkpatrick from 1900 until 1906, when Kirkpatrick sold his shares to Alexander Sinclair. Around 1922, the company was renamed to Sarnia Soda Water Works. Sharpe remained tied to the company until 1934. By the late 1950s, the name changed once more to Sarnia Beverage Ltd. Over the years, the company supplied soda water for various Pepsi-Cola products such as Orange Crush and Schwepps. |
