The edges of the quilt are finished with hand dyed cheese cloth which creates a short fringe. The back of the quilt is covered in a piece of white fabric adorned with a red floral print. There is a patch on the bottom lefthand corner that features information about the quilt, handwritten using black ink. |
Provenance |
This art quilt was inspired by the "Laird House" in Thedford, Ontario which dates back to 1870. It was made in 2015 by Cynthia McNair who lived in Arkona. She used a combination of painted fabrics and ice dyed fabrics to create the quilt. Cynthia is part of the Studio Art Quilt Association. She has shown her work nationally and internationally. The quilt was designed as a 2016 "Quilts for the Body and Soul" fundraiser for the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. It was shown at the Quilts of Great Britain exhibit in Alisa Craig. |
