Description |
Large round shallow wicker basket handmade by women in Saudi Arabia. It is mostly a mixture of tan and brown straw. Running through the center of the basket is a large "x" pattern of blue, green, and darker brown straw. The handle/rim is many parallel bands of straw wrapped around the rim. There is a small loop on one side of the basket. |

Handmade by women in Saudi Arabia. Obtained while Linda's husband was employed by ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia. The donor's husband, Patrick Pickford, was born in Petrolia in 1941. Patrick's working career as a Stationary Engineer, Instrumental Technician and Electrician took him to many industries in the Sarnia Lambton Petrochemical Complex (Dow, Nova, Shell, Polysar, Monsanto), the Middle East (Aramco in Saudi Arabia, Oasis Oil in Libya), Borneo and Fort McMurray. |
