Description |
Elephant figurine made of paraffin wax. It is off-white in colour and is hollow. The elephant is standing with its head slightly down and its trunk curled under. |
Provenance |
Made at the Imperial Oil Silver Star plant in Petrolia for the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. Silver Star had become Imperial Oil's only refinery in Canada after the London, Ontario refinery burned down in 1883 and a plan to rebuild the plant was rejected due to pollution concerns. |
