Description |
Large, cast iron cauldron (a) with a removable handle (b). The cauldron is round with a prominent rim around the opening at the top which curves outwards. The sides of the cauldron are adorned with three embossed rings. The base of the cauldron includes three peg shaped legs. There are two triangular shaped protrusions on either side of the cauldron, located near the rim. These protrusions allow the handle to hook onto the sides of the cauldron. The handle is adjustable and comprised of two curved pieces of metal that connect in the center. |

According to the donor, this cauldron was used to boil sap to create Maple syrup. It was formed in a Foundry in Petrolia, Ontario. |
