Description |
Dark tan Panama hat with a leather strap with a buckle across the top of the hat. A chin strap holds it onto the head. Inside the hat, green material is around the rim, and two cloth straps, attached to a leather sweat band, criss-cross at the top of the hat. A red label is attached at the top of the inside of the hat, with the words: Dalton Vase & Co., Basrah & Baghdad. |
Provenance |
This hat was worn by International Driller, Ernest Kells in Persia where temperatures reach 130 degrees in the shade. It was brought home in July, 1931 when Ernie completed 10 years in the employ of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. |
