Description |
Box-shaped gas meter painted red. There are four round knobs on the bottom for feet. There is a tube on each side of the meter. The tubes are closed at the bottom and open at the top. There is a covered window on the front with three meters for measuring cubic feet. The badge on the front reads 'JOHN S. MOORE LONDON, ONTARIO - PER REVOLUTION 125 CUBIC FT - PER HOUR 18 CUBIC FT - DRY GAS METER NO. 8985 FOR 3 LIGHTS - 1904.' Stamped on the top is 'INLET.' |

Received from Ted Sharpe who obtained the gas meter from the Shetland Church Hall in the early 1900s used by the Old Shetland Gas Co. The maker, John S. Moore, was born in England in 1844 and lived in London, Ontario. |
