Description |
Pink and red signature quilt. The quilt is comprised of fifteen large square blocks. Ten of the blocks include a circle adorned with a name highlighted by two rippled lines. Around the circle, there are a series of sixteen names embroidered using red thread that emanating outwards. Each block also features a sunburst quilting design. This quilting pattern continues towards the edges of the quilt, covering a wide band that has been added onto either side of the quilt. In the center of the quilt, there are five light pink square that form a cross. In the middle, there is a circle with the word "Merry Maids" embroidered using light pink thread. The inscription continues around the circle to read "Greenway Methodist Sunday School. June 25th, 1917". The top of the quilt also features two short ties for display. The back of the quilt is covered in a light pink cotton fabric. |

Signature quilt from the Merry Maids Greenway Methodist Sunday School. The quilt is from the First World War and was completed on June 25th, 1917. It features family names of soldiers that served in the war. The quilt was in possession of Arthur Webb before is was passed on to his sister, who donated the quilt to the Lambton Heritage Museum. |
