Description |
Small white, blue, red, yellow and green beads and cowrie shells strung together in alternating rows to form a band, with leather strings attached to one of the long sides forming a fringe. There are three rows of beads and three rows of shells followed by a string of green and white beads ending with a shell dangling from the other long side. A twisted leather string extends from the row of fringe for fastening. Worn by an African Chieftain |

Update: based on research 02/2025 https://www.prm.ox.ac.uk/collections-online#/item/prm-object-80972 almost exact same item (different coloured beads) Changed Lexicon from Necklace to Apron. A necklace would have a curve. |
