Description |
Stoneware merchant crock advertising a General Store in Thedford. The crock is bell shaped with a tapered rim. The front of the crock features a stamp that reads "From A. Beattie & Co. Gen'l Merchants. Thedford" in blue letters. The exterior of the crock is painted grey while the interior is light brown. |
Provenance |
Alexander Beattie was born in 1832 and died April 25th, 1888. By the 1860s, he owned two businesses, one in St. Mary's and the other in Thedford. After his death the store was run by his partner, Robert Dickson. |
