Black and white upper body photo of John Raeside Gemmill. He is wearing a suit with a bow tie, and is turned and looking slightly to the left. John also has a beard. There are four copies of this photograph. Two of these are cardstock copies, with the lighter one reading on the back, "J. Gemmill, John Raeside Gemmill Warden 1865," while the darker version reads, "J. Gemmill." There is also a copy on photographic paper, with his name on the back. The final version is a paper copy, which has a short biography on the back. The biography reads, "John Raeside Gemmill, 1865. Born Dalry, Ayrshire, Scotland, 8th February, 1808. Published Lanark Observer, 1850-1853; Sarnia Observer, 1853-1879. Deputy Clerk of Crown, Clerk County Court, Registrar Surrogate Court, 1853-1878. To Canada 1821, settled at Lanark. To Sarnia, 1853. Died, Sarnia, May 23, 1891. Age 83." |
