Description |
The "big band sound" was in evidence at the YM-YWCA as Sarnia All-Stars, the local musicians' union's workshop orchestra, put on a free jazz concert before an appreciative audience. The event was sponsored by the Hi-Y Club. The photograph features the All-Star band. None of the band members are identified. In the front row, three individuals in suits can be seen playing the saxophone. The saxophonist on the right wears glasses. While behind them three men can be seen playing the trumpet. On the right side of the image, there are two other men, though it is unclear what instruments they are playing. In front of all the musicians a music stand can be seen. On the left, a microphone can be seen. There is a sign in front of them that reads "The music for this occasion is provided for by a grant from The Music Performance Trust Fund of the recording industry. Obtained by the co-operation of Local 628." |
