School group photo of students attending Oil Springs Central School in the village of Oil Springs in the school year 1948-49. It is taken on the front steps of the school. The front row is sitting on the bottom step, and the other rows are standing. They are identified as follows: Back Row: Unidentified, ? The Oil Springs Central School was built in 1904. Later it was called the continuation school with grades one through eight downstairs and nine through twelve upstairs. High school was discontinued in 1945 and high school students were bussed to Petrolia. The school then became an all public school, grades one through eight until it closed in 1968 when Lambton Central Centennial School was built on Oil Heritage Line north of Rokeby Line. |
