J.H. Fairbank's House (Built 1866) |
Description |
Glossy black and white photo of J.H. Fairbank's House built in 1866. The image shows a house with a large wrap around porch, covered with greenery, and a white fence on the front of the property. There is a horse and buggy on the left side of the photo, and a sidewalk in front of the house. The house on the left is J.D. Noble's. There are four people on the porch, although they are quite small. There are three copies of this photo. The first is on photographic paper, and has written underneath the photo, "Noble house. J.H. Fairbank's House, built 1866. New house [arrow] 1889-91." On the back, "big house starts here (cropped off from the original picture)" is written. The second copy is also on photographic paper, but is not labelled. It is also a darker, and slightly larger version of the first. On the back, "2nd Fairbank House" is written. The final copy is mounted on cardstock, and appears to be the original image. It shows the widest and most detailed view, with the edge of the third house and the people on the porch visible. Written on the back is "Charles Fairbank, Petrolia, First (2nd) and 2nd (3rd) Fairbank Houses. From Left J.D. Nobel/J.H. Fairbank 2nd House/ Corner of Sunnyside." |
