Description |
Paper photograph album with brown paper cover and black interior pages. Cover has design embossed on the front with "Photo Gems" embossed at the top. Pages are bound with string. Black and white photographs are glued directly onto the pages. Photographs are unidentified, but assumed to be members of the Goeck family. Photos include views of Sarnia, family members at home and on the farm, men and women in military uniforms (WWI), military parade in Sarnia including an airplane on an automobile with "Buy Victory Bonds" printed on the tail, individuals posed on oil wells and oil derricks likely in and around Petrolia. |
Provenance |
Items in donation include photographs of the Goeck Family, including John Goeck Sr. (1844-1942) who was born in Bavaria, Germany and came to Canada in 1852. He eventually worked as a section foreman for the railway branch from Wyoming to Petrolia. He lived with his son, John James Goeck (1884-1957) on Blind Line. Photos also feature his children and grandchildren. |
