Black and white photograph from the collection of International Driller Roland Blackwell taken while he was working in South America. The image shows a Canadian drilling rig with a wood derrick and attached covered lean-to where the steam boiler and engine is located. In front of the drilling rig are piles of pipe and casing with two men examining them. A small plume of smoke is rising beyond the pipe and a white horse is standing to the right of the pipe. In the foreground is a pit with fluid in the bottom and four pipe sticking out of the pit to ground level. Written on the back: South America. |
