Glossy black and white upper body photograph of (from left to right) Bill Durance and Marshall Gowland. Bill is standing and leaning over the desk. Marshall is seated on the right wearing a bow tie, and signing a paper. Both men are wearing suits and looking at the paper being signed. Behind them are windows with almost fully closed blinds. On the back, the date is written, as well as a mark in what appears to be black crayon. This photograph was published on October 1, 1958, on page 36 in the Sarnia Observer, with the headline, "Safety Month Proclaimed." The article discusses the history of safety month, and its origins in attempting to prevent industrial accidents. The description of the photograph reads, "Here Bill durance, superintendent of operations at Holmes Foundry, and first vice chairman of the Lambton section, watches as the Mayor signs." |
