The donor worked at National Steel Drum Ltd. when it opened in 1954 at the age of 18 until she was 32 in the office. Her husband, Jack, owner of Dunlop Transport hauled for the drum plant for 54 years. National Steel Drum reconditioned and made new steel 45-gallon drums and later made new kegs in different gauges- 16 and 18 gauge. They made the drums for Imperial Oil and all the plants in the Sarnia-Lambton Petrochemical and Refining Complex. The official opening of the plant was held at the plant with many in attendance from the U.S.A., across Canada and local dignitaries. The dinner and dance was held at the Petrolia Legion. |
