Black and white photograph on a tan cabinet card of the Sproule and Laner family and friends posing on the boardwalk in front of the Sproule Bro's. Meat Market. A white horse (Old Charlie) and delivery cart are in front of the shop which has chickens hanging from a rail above the front window. Some of the 27 people are identified. Grandpa Laner, Jacob Sproule (back row wearing a white apron), Liza Harnett, Annie McLachlan, Marguerite and her mother, Mary Ann Sproule, Grandma Laner. A stamp of the photographer is on the back: Louis Pesha's Art Studio, Oil Springs, Ontario. |

The donor's grandparents, Jacob and Mary Ann Sproule (Laner) owned the Sproule Bro's Meat Market in Oil Springs. Louis Pesha was a prominent photographer from Shetland, Ontario and had a studio in Oil Springs from 1895 to 1901. |
