First Day Cover white envelope for commemorative stamps. Red lettering: Canada Commemorative First Discovery of Oil in North America at Oil Springs, Ont., 1858. First Day of Issue Sept. 10th, 1958. The lettering is bordered with green graphics of a gusher, storage tanks and a drilling rig. Four Canada five cent commemorative stamps are fixed to the top right corner. The stamps have two oil drops, one has an inset of an oil lamp and the other has a fractioning tower in colours green, red and white. At the bottom of the stamp: Petroleum 1858-1958 Le petrole The stamps are cancelled in Oil Springs, dated September 10, 1958. The stamps commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first discovery of oil in North America. |
