Scope & Content |
This is a combined letter from Maggie and Annie Black from Yale, Michigan, to their cousin International Driller, Archie Growder, Brisbane, Australia written on June 31, 1895. The first section was written by Maggie Black, and discusses her and her husbands visit to Enniskillen Township after being away from it for so long (nearly five years). This letter discusses all the friends and family that they saw well on their trip. She discusses her current teaching position and the walk that it takes to get there. She also talks about her sister attending school at Yale and how the two of them are living together during the weekdays and how they both go back to their homes on the weekends. The next section is written to Archie by his cousin Annie Black and talks about how her education is going at Yale as well as how big "the boys" are getting. Maggie finishes the letter asking Archie how his trip is going and what the country is like. This letter also states that enclosed are some dried leaves and a dried rose from a family wedding that was held the year before. Maggie also asks Archie to send a photo of himself to her with his next letter to see how he looks now. A copy of this transcript is available in the media file and the accession folder. Archie Growder was an International Driller in Borneo and Australia. |
