Black leather binder with thin black line forming a border around the front and back cover with metal rings on the inside and a black plastic page holder at the front. On the edge of the pages are grey fabric tabs attached to dividers featuring the letters of the alphabet in black (also includes "mc"). This binder contains an index of information compiled for the Imperial Oil Halifax Refinery in 1919 and 1925. At the beginning there is a handwritten chart providing an alphabetical index to the notebook. This manual is mainly composed of data, mainly focusing on budgeting, machinery as well as energy costs and efficiency. The pages themselves are a combination of typed correspondences, hand written and typed data sheets, and various charts on blue, black or green paper. There are a variety of papers and inks used as this was compiled over six years, but there is a general trend of white pages featuring either pencil handwriting or typed black ink. |
