A bundle of bank cheques that are made out to the Oil Well Supply Company to be cashed at the Bank of Toronto. These cheques were given to the company as a form of payment for the products being purchased by various different customers. Each of these cheques has a different date, and the years range between 1896-1899. There are 426 different cheques in this bundle. Aside from the writing that is on the front of the cheques, the template that was used to create the cheques is identical. The document is outlined in a thin black line. On the left hand side of the cheque, there is an Oil Well Supply Company logo that has been written vertically inside of a paisley design/crest. The words "Petrolia, Ont." are written on the top line with a space provided to write the date the cheque was processed. "To the Bank of Toronto" is written in large black cursive font underneath the line provided to write the date. "Pay to" is written in black cursive letters and there is a space to write the customers name beside this line. At the bottom of the cheque there is a space to write the payment total and then the signature of the manager who processed or excepted that payment. In the middle of the cheque the word "payed" has been stamped out of the cheque using a circular punch. |
