Envelope addressed to James Sanson Esq. Petrolia Ont., Canada from J.C. Buchanan, Blora, Java. The envelope has four cancelled stamps on the front, they are orange and white with the portrait of a queen worth 12 1/2 (cents ?) from Nederl, Indie and a cancellation stamp of Blora, 3. 4. 28. The back shows five post marks, two from New York, N.Y. 5-9, 1928; one from London, Canada, MY 10, 28; and two from Petrolia MY 11, 28. There is a red wax seal (unsure of the design) to seal the envelope. John Cameron Buchanan was an oil superintendent, in Java (Indonesia). He also worked in Borneo and possibly Persia. James Sanson was an International Driller and worked on Jubal Island, Egypt in 1911. He also worked in Mesopotamia & Persia and Venezuela. |
