Letter written from Greendale Station, Tambo, Queensland, Australia by Catherine Growder to Mary Jane Growder on February 4, 1908. In this letter she expresses her surprise and congratulations on Mary Jane's marriage to her brother-in-law Peter and wishes the newlywed couple the best of luck in their married life. Catherine also reveals that they are hoping to come visit Canada within the next couple of years and how excited she is to see her family and friends again. Catherine also tells Mary Jane that Archie is currently drilling a well in Australia that is so far 3700 feet deep and has yet to hit water or oil yet, but Archie is hopeful that they will hit water soon. A copy of the transcription can be found in the media file and in the accession folder. Archie Growder was an International Driller in Borneo and Australia, where he remained. |
