First Day Cover envelope for the commemorative stamp of the first commercial oil well's 100th anniversary. The envelope has a five cent stamp with two oil drops, one drop has an oil lamp and the other a refinery. A cancellation stamp of Toronto, October 10 1958. On the left side is an illustration of a worker lowering pipe from a drilling rig elevator with oil derricks in the background. It is under the words, "Centenary of Canada's Oil Development" and above the words, "Date of Issue- September 10, 1958". A stamp from business, Melville Travel Service, Toronto, in red is on the right side at the bottom. The envelope is empty. |
