Letter of recommendation for Alexander Johnston signed December 26,1870 by William Thomas, James Colter and William Mitchell. The letter states that Alex is a young man with good moral character and industrious habits and has been teaching school during the years 1869 and 1870. He was given a raise in salary after the first year in hopes of retaining him, giving him considerable more than ever was paid to a teacher in the section due to the advancement made by his students. He was always found to be faithful and honest and they regret parting with him. |
