Large book with red cover featuring white spotting design, black in the corners and black fabric on spine. In the center of the front cover is a white sticker bearing the title. "191- Assessment Roll - Municipality of" is typed in black, where the rest is handwritten in black ink. In the top left corner "24" is stamped. Attached to the inside of the front cover is a paper titled "Totals of Assessment Roll for Municipality of Oil Springs 1917." This page is signed by Jas. T. Hillis and Dallas P. Sisk on April 26, 1917. Underneath this page is a list of lands available for sale in the County of Lambton. The lands are handwritten on the left side with the price written on the right. Underneath this page is a sheet titled "Declaration of Office" signed by James T. Hillis on February 12, 1917. The title of the pages, which is, typed in black, "Assessment Roll for the Municipality of" and "191-." "Oil Springs" and "7" are handwritten. The pages are white with black text, pink and blue charts, and largely black handwriting, although some red does appear. The chart contains the number on the roll, the name of the assessed, their occupation, address, property description and value, as well as taxes. There are 267 names on the main assessment roll. Another page consists of various numbers in black ink. A"Non-Residents' Land Assessment for the Municipality of Oil Springs 1917" is at the back with a short list of land locations and numbers, but no names. Following this is the "Totals" page which also contains a statement of approval signed by D.P. Sisk, J.W. Sutherland, J.H. Penfound, Y. Hutchinson, A.N. Dewar and [?]. |
