Letter written by Alex Growder to his brother and sister Mary and Peter Growder on letterhead of the "Hotel King Edward" in Stewart B.C. Portland Canal on August 15, 1910. In this letter Alex expresses how frustrated he is with his family currently for not responding to his letters and how each of the Growder's owe him "about two letters each" before he will write back to any of them again. Alex also tells them that he hasn't been working very hard lately because he is currently getting 1/4 interest on 11 different mineral claims, he is currently trying to get these claims sold. Alex then talks about the animals that are typically hunted in the area and how much the hunters walk to get their game. Alex thanks his brother and sister for the picture that they sent him of their mother and father and how he will cherish this photograph "as long as he lives". Alex reminds them to write soon and reassures them that he is currently in good health. A transcription of this record is available in the media file and the accession folder. Alex Growder is originally from Petrolia and is working in British Columbia. He drowned there in 1916. |
